How do you sense the outcome of rising sea levels? Saint Petersburg, Russia is situated on wetlands between the mouth of Neva River and the shores of the Baltic Sea. Rose Level creates a kind of future high tide mark in the urban park, as a reminder that water seeks its level without regard to our structures and our plans. A level line marking the height of water at the last large flood of St. Petersburg was surveyed on the site.  Surveyors plastic flagging tape was wrapped around each tree trunk from ground plane to the high water mark: creating grouping of  rose colored tree trunks showing the height of the high water if the park were flooded.
