YADKIN WATERSHED
Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Winston Salem, North Carolina
2000
Plastic containers, collected water, vinyl letters
76 feet long x 43 feet wide x 6 inches tall
Project for the Life Cycles Show at SECCA
Ten thousand plastic deli containers map the Yadkin River and its tributaries. Water from each tributary was collected from the creeks, streams and rivers, poured into containers, and put into a map on the gallery’ s floor. Subtle differences in color and clarity of the water distinguish differing waterways.
